So i have been thinking for a while about how between the UNSC and covenant they have discovered well over 100 forerunner thingamabobs. But few were ever as epic as things like the portal in Kenya, so i was wondering if when the mod has been developed to a point where factions were no longer a major concern, if artifacts would be revamped to be more awesome and forerunner. Probably a long time from now but still i think it would be cool to see something like that, like perhaps the artifact on the badba cathba ice complex on reach would give a research boost. just a thought.

How about a fortress class vessel, stuck in orbit? Orbital emplacements x2 damage, x2 fireing speed, 200% range.

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. It had already been discussed and shot down multiple times from it being a ship to a small planet or some kind of station. It is not going to hapoen.

Though the whole "Breaking the Scale!" argument is kinda moot because that's all I hear. That includes the plot device other than being just a "plot device".

All we need is to upsize planets and gravity wells and downsize ship sizes and voila the scale isn't broken as shit like how SoGE does it. A Vong World Ship is over 100km in Diameter. Sticking something 50km or 100km in length is hardly a challenge.

 

Would it utterly balancing breaking? Probably but it's one of those ships that can be offset to even a later late game than Mantle's Approach.

Is it possible to change planet size and scale then? because then you would have to do gravity wells, and increase ship speed to compensate.

And existing maps would probably have overlapping grav wells.

You would just have to increase the scale of the map to compensate which is just changing 1 number to ensure no overlap in gravity wells.

Though the team is adamant against the Fortress Class or plot device Class even though I just made the previous excuse seem really straw man.

Because that's something even I am in the dark about. I get the stock reasoning of "breaking scale" every time it's mentioned which is hardly an excuse.

It is far too much effort for one ship. We've been waiting for over a month for just one thing, diplomacy, to get finished for the mod, let alone an entire rescale, the debate over the ship's model, eventual texturing, adjusting a gob of things in order for it to not look ridiculous. You won't see it as a playable ship. Maybe a derelict "planet" eventually, but it's not high on our list. There is a reason that Canadaman calls the Forerunner faction the Forerunner Remnant. They are a faded version of their glorious past, which is the only reason the other factions have any chance against them. A lot of thought has been put into this decision by Canada and myself. We like the current scale of the mod, we think it works really well, we could fuck it all up in an attempt to add one ship that doesn't really fit into our narrative of the state of the universe.

In another game with a better inherent scale system we would very much like to have a Fortress class ship, but SoaSE isn't made for such wild differences in size.

The didact may bring back ecumene in halo 5, i really hope that does not happen. Beacaue Sotp would have to be updated and this mod will instantly become a horror game.
