The ur didact ( Shadow-of-Sundered-Star) was made to understand a gravemind, the human equivalent would probably be PTSD.

You cant even do simple tasks without your PTSD taking over. Imagine just going to fill up a glass, then smashing the glass then deliberately cutting yourself with the glass.

Also who would follow him? his warrior servants owe more allegiance to the iso didact, the builders are pretty much extinct, and the life workers are smart enough not to follow him.

The only Forerunners left in the galaxy would be, the monitors, Promethean knights, and perhaps catalog.

Re-reading the scale thread on the old site (http://danmangames.c...p?topic=5700.75), it wasn't people not being able to zoom in close enough that made them dislike SoGE scale, it was having to zoom in so much because of the greater difference.

Most of the thread's about grav well and phase lane sizes, but eventually planet size changes are proposed. Uni kinda just swoops down eventually and says he's not interested in it and we have more important things to do, but he likes the grav well and phase lane changes. It's perfectly possible we've been regurgitating a sound bite in this case. We try to debate, and then sort of lock in our decisions for the sake of productivity. Maybe others disagree, but I think Rovert deserves a high five in the name of logic and rationality. Maybe Uni or Canada have more to reveal about their private conversations about the matter.

But let it be known henceforth that we wish not to alter the current scale because we totally don't feel like it. It's most important to tell the truth.

It's not just that we don't want to, it would take great effort and I don't see a great benefit to make it worth it. We don't really have the manpower and, again, we could end up fucking up the scale and then not having the bodies to take the time to fix it back... We've already messed with the vanilla scale to some degree, making our ships a little smaller. What is the benefit from it that we couldn't get from making it a planetary object instead?

I really do not like the implied notion that we're just too lazy to do the Halo mod right. We obviously want to make the best Halo mod possible for SoaSE. I'm not sure this would help. Persons working on this could instead be making more Covenant ships. The Forerunners are an afterthought, they may even end up ruining our balance and reduce positive reception of the mod. Lots of stuff going on behind doors about how this stuff gets planned out and executed. I realize we're not exactly forthcoming about everything, but really there is a lot, so it would be a task in itself to fully explain our views.

I dont see the point on the big argument on scale, the mod team did great, and who cares about the sizes of the ship unless its like so ridiculous its crazy like a mako the size of a super carrier (UNSC) which it is NOT.

I don't mean you'll fuck up your job, I mean they may not be able to be balanced well against UNSC vs Covenant. No offense intended.

Rovert just thought the reasons we were giving didn't hold up and thought it was wise to revive the issue. I think it was the right thing to do, and I don't think that anyone was implying that we were lazy. I was explaining that we misrepresented our reasons for not including very large ships, it's a weakness of our process which is to some degree optimized for productivity. I explained that we're fallible, and that the reasons we were giving to people asking were different from the reasons behind the actual decision making. Now they know why we actually made the decision.

@agiga you see its these kind of posts that are filled with mystery that are very annoying. Perhaps a admin can pass along a joke about this? no? ok.
