Ah but the design has the ships remaining in service will be brought out of service as more Autumns come online. It is common sense the UNSC is a lot of thing but they are not stupid.

With any luck a new more powerful enemy empire will appear and to sure up the UNSC's numbers they will resurrect they Halcyon and Marathon cruisers to bolster their numbers.

Has it not been established that the Marathon is now obsolete? It's not really speculation to assume an outdated warship will be retired, as with the old wet-navy battleships and the Halcyon-class. There's literally no reason to keep them around once the Autumn-class has high enough numbers to replace the remaining Marathons.
