Played a team game against two AIs with Canadaman tonight, thought I'd share what came to be my default composition per fleet, usually had two at any one time. I tried to have several, at least three or four, but I sacrificed two whole fleets keeping a super desperate AI out of Canada's resource asteroid fields over the course of the game; preserving his economy was the key to containing that AI.

10 x Marathon-class heavy cruiser
15 x Berlin-class frigate
15 x Mako-class corvette

I must be weird, I've never had a standardized battle fleet composition of any kind. I roll with a very mobile and ever changing motley crew of ship types. If there are a lot of strike craft, build more antistrike boats. Getting beat hardcore at every engagement due to numbers?Refit class, here i come!

As for spam goes think of all reductions to time for building you get and then a capital ship with level 3 rapid manufacturing results in literal Factory SPAM

I'm with Kommrad II, my fleets are built real-time trying to counter what my scouts see and what I anticipate I'll see at that time in the game. Lately early game I got for a Phoenix, bunch of Charons, then I tech up to destroyers and Halcyons, before I take the time to get anything else rolling. You'll almost always see me go heavy on the Halcyons because of how well they withstand hits.

The important thing with UNSC is the number of volleys you get to fire with a ship. Single shot damage isn't as important, because you're going to have several ships and there will be overlapping fire to some degree. You want to shoot for either ships that have the health to withstand blows or ships with the fastest firing time so you're getting those slugs out quickly. It's also important to move into missile and autocannon range.

The last game I played I only ran with two fleets, I was playing on one of the smaller maps so this was acceptable at the time. One was geared towards "slugging matches" where they were all big gun ships with a fair number of Makos to keep the fighters and bombers at bay, The other was a carrier centric fleet with a mix of Athens, Phoenixes, and Eions. Each fleet was escorted by tons of frigates and destroyers, as it should be.

I'll take a tally of exact numbers in further playthroughs.

I really only run 2 fleets plus just a few defenses placed at border worlds for example 5 pre-refit Halcyons hold the line until my main fleets arrive if its that big of an attack if not i build more halcyons because they have good health and in a straight UNSC fight they act like the Kodiak just a brick that can withstand damage. My fleets are just what ever I can spam usually and refit halcyons with 2 athens and thats it

I agree with Kommrad, but i do something a little different: i try to get a large number of each type of ship in my fleet, to make it as diverse as possible. If there is a need for a certain type of ship, i increase how many of that ship i have and decrease the number of other ships that i dont need. It work out well for me
