I'm aware of that, that's not what I was talking about. Another giant plothole: how the fuck do you sneak a 27km ship in behind enemy lines without anybody noticing?

id put my money on sensor jamming and cloaking, which the covenant has been shown to have on several occasions.

anyway, this has been a "lovely" tangent and all, but mind getting this thread back on topic and save the halo: reach discussion for a more fitting thread?

The Battle of Reach depicted in the novel takes place on August 30th 2552, which simultaneously occurs the same time as the level "The Pillar of Autumn". Hence, both the game and novel are canon.

Yes. ONLY August 30th. The Covenant fleet in Halo: Reach jumps in August 14th, a full 16 days before it should have.

Make another thread if you wanna keep talking about this.

I don't see why this is off topic since this is a joke thread about big Macs...

Whoever said the battle of reach lasted 6 days is grossly off. The battle lasted roughly six hours in space.

I'm pretty sure the In the book a covenant ship slipspaced itself into atmosphere because when it saw the SMAC's it said "Fuck that noise."

Either way I'm pretty sure a covenant ship managed to jump past the SMACs to get to the surface of reach.

(Of course I could just be mixing things up, the last time I read all of the halo books like, what, around probably a year and a half ago.)

No, the fleet just dropped off a fuckton of dropships which were too numerous and too small to be destroyed. Nobody knew in atmosphere jumps were possible until Cortana did it. Even then, that was atmosphere - space, not the reverse.

You mean Regret? But yeah in TFOR they jumped their ships within range to unload hella dropships, then jumped back out of range and waited for the ground forces to destroy the generators.

Actually they never jumped out again, they were sacrificed to orbital defence or landed on the surface. The covenant had a lot of ships to waste...

"At the last moment, the creature managed to fix the coupling, and while Cortana had thought a Slipspace jump, as deep into the atmosphere as they were, would be impossible, she soon realized the extent of Covenant Slipspace technology and managed to perform an in-atmosphere Slipspace jump away from Threshold."

It was Cortana. Not Regret. A Covenant AI aboard Ascendant Justice logged that info and relayed it to the Covie fleet, that's how Regret knew it was possible.

The more you know!
