One nerf option is to add an extra UNSC faction that has no infection research. If you guys like that idea

All infection needs is a slight nerf so that you don't get some 300 flood ships spawning at every planet.

Just so flood don't spawn directly on your planets. Then it would be fine.

MaBye have them spawn from flood bases and uninhabited/uninhabitable gravity wells.

it is rather annoying i tend to leave my inner colonies undefended and put everything on the front line so im not wasting resources. i lost 5 colonies once because the ai researched infection and the defenses i did have got infected...

Nerf it, I vertually lost my whole empire in a matter of ten minutes because the AI researched it.

I've only seen the description of it from vids that have been streamed, so I can't give a proper answer to this. But I have to ask, how much sense does it make in regards to the canon of Halo to have the research in there at all?

I'd say just nerf it, so long as it's enough to keep you on your toes at first but not totally overwhelm the player.

I'm all for removing it completely. I'm glad the flood are powerful, but they are too strong to have randomly attacking my stuff

When starting the match, you can choose between UNSC and UNSC with Infection research. That would allow you to shut it off if you want, or leave it on for a challenge...

Shouldn't you take him to dinner first?

Anywho, it's annoying as all fuck when your undefended inner colonies get raped by the flood, so I'd rather that it gets nerfed to a less insane level but still keeping the flood scary.

Personally it makes no sense for the UNSC to research anything to do with the flood other than a defense against it, so you could create the new faction that has a research that counters the flood maybe to equal balance it? i like the idea of two separate UNSC forces as it could work for later releases on rebellion maybe? ( i vote ONI for the name...).

I would say get rid of it for UNSC and throw it to the Forunner Remnant when they turn up. Not entirely lore-unfriendly either, rapancy is funny like that.


Though admittedly it doesn't solve the problem of them being OP. I still feel like it's fairer than giving the UNSC the ability to just summon the Flood as a weapon.

I say get rid of it until you guys move onto Rebellion. That way you can have the ONI faction of the UNSC specialize in it. After all, Infection seems like more of a thing ONI would do.
