You didn't get the point of my post. It is logical, or at least it seems logical, that they created a new class, with better equipments and whatelse; but why did they named a ship after the Pillar Of Autumn? Why Pillar of Autmun II? We haven't even seen it yet, they showed us the Infinity was escorted by many Halcyons or Autumns, yet we saw none of them in action, nor above Requiem, nor above Earth. Then WHY did they show us six or more Cruisers if later they magically disappear? It seems that they wanted to give some Halo-feeling at their game, but we (and with we, I mean I) don't feel it like an Halo just because we see a bunch of ships in a CG cutscene.

Legacy

The Autumn-class heavy cruiser, which entered service as the replacement for the Marathon class after the Covenant War, was partially designed after the refitted Pillar of Autumn. Due to the instrumental role the Autumn played in the war, the lead ship of the new class was named UNSC Pillar of Autumn II in honor of the original.[14]

why NOT name the first ship of a new class after the ship it is based off, when the ship it is based off probably has the most ship to ship kills of any lone UNSC ship?

Then name it the Pillar of Autumn. They're right in the sense that naming it Pillar of Autumn II is a little bit... ridiculous. Using II is not a Navy ship naming standard...

I think it's funny that they used the Paris-class and Halcyon-class models from Reach yet they go and make newer ships for actual campaign that look nothing like the established UNSC design memes. And then after that they hamfist the Autumn into the new lore as a new ship class yet none of the other ships that were built and designed around the same time look the same. I mean they could have at least revamped the Marathon model from Halo 2, but no...

Also the Charon-class is not the Charon-class, it's the Strident-class now so I can forgive them for redesigning the Charon because canonically now they didn't. Still peeved that they went through the trouble of making a new ship class and ret-conning the wreckage of the FUD for the sake of saving resources even though it probably took more time to make a new model and then destroy it...

I said they probably did it to keep your average halo fan who doesn't understand naval naming from confusing the POA "I" from POA "II".It's one of those things that is done by the writers that make no sense in canon, because it was done for non canon reasons. And finally I said this after defender's post. I am almost certain that the writers made the names for that reason.

In the guide it says the FUD is still a Charon-Class Light Frigate, so it is still BS. Unless that was the point of what you were making, I am just making sure.
Also I don't think the Halo 4 FUD and the Strident are the same ship design, they look somewhat different but maybe because the pictures are bad and the FUD is damaged.

But of course we all know, as Zero said, that the only reason FUD got changed is because 343I wanted to save resources and didn't want to design and implement the old model again.

Yeah that was the point I was making, and they are because it says the Strident-class are the ones that drop out of the Infinity, and those were the same model as the "re-designed" FUD.

This discussion of Strident frigates got me wondering if it would be at all possible for the Infinity to launch frigates in the Rebellion release.  That would be cool.

We've talked about having an ability where it can call frigates into the gravity well, two at a time, for a cost. It can't hanger them like strikecraft though.

That's right, it would be cousin, singular.

To sport can mean to possess.

I think it if there was an ability it should be able to deploy 2-4 frigates at a time much like the Sova Carrier drops missile batteries. At this point in the game 2 frigates won't be that OP compared to the massive fleet you will probably have at this point. No cost (execpt antimatter) but if you don't want the ability spammed, add a duration and/or increase the cool down.

Actually a fair point, I presume the spawning a la Sova Carrier doesn't work because the missile platform is a structure?

Edit: Ignore that, the Rankulas spawns in nano-ship swarms. But that's good: that's ideal for the Strident deploying: no fleet supply, spawns next to the ships, spawns proper ships which don't have to be researched otherwise. With a few restrictions on time and cost, that's the ability you're looking for, surely?

To the Infinity thread...

Updated it already  :) http://www.sinsofthe...rades-and-more/

Frigate Support/ Strident Class Support - Launches Multiple UNSC Strident CLass Frigates stored aboard Infinity for additional firepower and support. These advanced frigates are equipped with forerunner tech including advanced armor alloys and energy shields. (for Each level, 2/4/6. Antimatter and resource cost for permanet frigates or just antimatter cost but only for 180 duration and 200 cooldown)
