This is a really pedantic exercise. The Mako is being replaced because we've always wanted all 3 frigates in the mod. Pretty plain and simple. They need roles, they've got roles now. The paris is the most armored, so it's the most equipped to deal with other ships, the Charon is early game mainline and quick reaction spam, the stalwart will basically run flak and fire her mac when it's charged up.
Just my 2 cents

Why else would you have the stolly as an AA frigate?
>Halonation
>huehuehue
But really, idk why you're confused when on their respective pages, it says the Paris-class is the most offensive, the Charon-class is the most supportive and the Stalwart is in between the two...

Your A good troll, the stolly has never been seen in combat, and has the same Armour amount. But since the Charon class is lengthier and has nukes (hyperion and shiva), it makes sense that it's got a better gun or, a larger reactor to power more systems.
Edit add in: there are no references to stollies having nukes

Now for the Charon it has the largest number of troops aboard in terms of the UNSC frigates, hence the troop support role in canon. The stalwart was designed to be basically the general purpose frigate of the UNSC fleet, where as the Paris took on more of a combatant role, and the Charon participles more in the lading of troops and in adding them while on the ground.Your A good troll, the stolly has never been seen in combat, and has the same Armour amount. There is no Canon sources on troop numbers. Why would a support frigate need nukes? Its like putting depth charges on a sub.

Putting nukes on warships that WILL have to fight the Covenant is a good idea the ship after all has to make it to atmosphere. Now for the next point on troop numbers. The charon is going to have larger troop numbers (not necessarily crew) given one of its designated roles as an "Expeditionary Land Warfare Support Vessel." Now it in and of itself is not a Support vessel as you are thinking of it. The Charon is a frigate that was designed due to the unique set of circumstances that face the UNSC. The vessel had to transport a large number of troops for its size and had to be capable of anti ship warfare. After all before the Covenant their was the Insurrection and the various insurrectionist groups had fleets and ground forces (terrorist, unconventional and conventional). So again given the "expeditionary Land Warfare Support" role this frigate is designated to fill it would have larger numbers of troops.

That's the reason I like halo , it's quite comparable to what we have currently.

Can you name a UNSC battle ship that doesn't have nukes? Nuke are ubiquitous that far into the future in the middle of a massive war. Stop being such a contrarian just for the sake of it.

Even the ONI research base had nuclear weapons. Nukes are ubiquitous. There is absolutely no reason to assume otherwise.
