Interesting article. But can't apply to a station. A ship can enter an orbit, but a station can't terminate orbit without a rather large hand still.


We're talking about a 150 mile diameter bag of golf balls. I think the non-bag-of-golf-ball target object's size is fairly irrelevant.
You could get a space station to leave orbit if you attached enough engines to it.

Hopeful's flight abilities aren't relevant to the discussion here.  The point I was making is that this Anchor-like ship/station has med bays that are used in the Spartan-III procurement.  Are there any abilities that could come out of that?

 

I was thinking maybe the station could automatically produce an elite Sabre unit with beefed up performance that would be piloted by Spartans.  

I would compare the idea to something from SoGE, where the Jedi Venator-class SD periodically secretes advanced Jedi Interceptors that "have no squadron host!" but serve as free squadrons.

Hopeful's flight abilities aren't relevant to the discussion here.  The point I was making is that this Anchor-like ship/station has med bays that are used in the Spartan-III procurement.  Are there any abilities that could come out of that?

 

I was thinking maybe the station could automatically produce an elite Sabre unit with beefed up performance that would be piloted by Spartans.  

I would compare the idea to something from SoGE, where the Jedi Venator-class SD periodically secretes advanced Jedi Interceptors that "have no squadron host!" but serve as free squadrons.

Actually the two donors for the hopeful were entirely gutted to make room for the med facilities.

I hope shields if you go in the ONI direction allows Star bases shields. I want all the protection.

Love the Idea for the UNSC starbase’s with upgrade and such, but what about the Covenant? You should add like a home fleet of some sort for their defense.

The number of star base upgrades a single star base can have is moddable; these can be increased or decreased to reflect the options a UNSC player can have. Also, the Anchor should only have a single frigate factory model around it, seeing as how it can only produce one ship at a time.

Yep. Any more than that is just adding stress needlessly on the users RAM and GPU.

Per gravity well will be 1. Star gravity wells have their own count, which is normally 4.

Right now the starbase will be the same for everyone. Weaponry will include AAA Helix, Archer missiles, mini-MAC. Potentially shiva nuclear weapons.

I was thinking about this. So do you mean it isn't possible to have more than 1 build animation per structure?

I was thinking you can buy addition construction modules but only the first module actually builds ships. The others either just have semi built ships and/or , if possible, a particle animation could be added where boom construction arms look like they are 'building' the semi built ships.

Since we saw Anchor 9 in a debris field, and since those debris were probably UNSC ships' scraps, how about giving it a recycling ability? Like, for every ship you lose in the gravity well where the Anchor is stationing you get some resources back, just as if the station was actually recycling the metal of the destroyed ships.


This seems like a great idea for a defensive based faction to have so it is pretty perfect for the UNSC. Similar to the concept of RvB's recycling station.

If this is set in 2557, then shields can be used, but it should be a later technology. I think it would still be fairly difficult to implement that on a wide scale. I also like the sound of the ship breaking yards, although I don't know if I'd make much use of them for that function.
