Could a halo not act as the planet in the occupation victory type. That way it does not appear in just every game and can be specially spawned as in the default game the system is simply a star and a planet.

Remember that Halos are mobile installations not planets. Why not see about the installation that can fire all of them....

Remember that Halos are mobile installations not planets. Why not see about the installation that can fire all of them....

Indeed, what I meant was it would replace the planet and would be planet sized/larger than planet sized.

I was just playing Sacrifice of Angels 2 in Rebellion, and I had a gas giant planet that had a Moon orbiting it. Couldn't you just do something like that and just replace the Moon with a Halo?  :huh:

Yeah you just need a Halo model made into a particle.

So this conversation has arisen once again...I suppose it is time to make a decision, as we're finally upon Rebellion.

I think it's clear what people want.  What the one guy said was true, this is Halo, so there should be a Halo.  If only for aesthetics and not much added to gameplay there should be a way to have them ingame

Or just put it on unique maps. If there's a way of avoiding them spawning in random scenarios and whoever the map guy is can put them in strategically then it's fine.

I can sympathise with the 'Halo should have Halos' suggestion by the way, but I won't be too cut up if they aren't put in.

You know I just had an idea for what a halo could be used for and forgive me if this has been brought up and already shot down, why not make the a planet have an invulnerable planet structure that is capturable with abilities :

 

  1.  creates sentinels  fighters  just for planetary defense
  2. fire minor pulse that destroys all ships with a small range, or at least disables and makes them capturable (nix the second part if that is a little too op)
  3. also destroys all Flood ships and controlled ships in the range, a good defense against the flood.

In the end a really nice hanger defense.

 

Note it would require deep, deep research to colonize and use the abilities

Interesting idea, although, I myself  would rather see a Halo as a moon orbiting a gas giant or as its own planet type (a Halo doesn't need to necessarily orbit a gas giant, we know nothing of Halos 01, 02, 03, 06 or 07).

 

P.S Wouldn't it be cool if a Halo ring could allow whoever captures one to build a certain class of Sentinel?

You could do it like the E4X mod and have the Halos spawn randomly. They have a planet that only spawns like 35% of the time. Hell, I've only found it once.

I definitely want Halos in the game, but no matter the decision made, it's going to be some time before you see one because it has to be modeled and textured. We just have actual gameplay stuff that is more important for now.

I definitely want Halos in the game, but no matter the decision made, it's going to be some time before you see one because it has to be modeled and textured. We just have actual gameplay stuff that is more important for now.

 

I'm personally opposed to it being a full on weapon. Maybe it should buff research or something and create sentinels that can't jump. We'll have to look at what Rebellion has added for us to use.

I agree, Halos as weapons seems a bit OP.  :P
