Why yes the vinyl would survive. However, as a record it would stand incomplete and therefore would not survive as a record just as individual pieces of vinyl. Alternatively depending on how the record broke there may not be vinyl left. Was it dropped in a vat of molten metal, a shredder (in which case there would be venal left), a volcano, or was it used as target practice for a high energy laser. The possibilities for the fate of the vinyl mentioned are endless.
Don't bury my hypothetical question. No one was talking about Forerunners destroying vinyl records. That joke didn't make any goddamn sense and the world needs to know.

Ember you failed to realize the true nature of the question. I was not talking about the Forerunners Destroying the vinyl for they would not engage in such trivial matter...

It's what Defender was talking about. I don't know what in the hell was destroying the vinyl in your universe.

Lesson 1: Word Play
I'll remedy your senses of humor if it buzz kills me.
We begin with the simplest and most inferior forms of comedy so that your unfunny brains can comprehend it. You have to work your way up.
I can't wait until we get to slapstick. It's like watching a NASCAR race. There are always injuries.

Yes, let's continue listing reasons why we're always going to shoot down the idea of implementing Halos for the forseeable future.
The sense of superiority implied by that line break is obnoxious.

"What if Forerunners can deploy an unlimited amount of sentinels?"
"Unlimited amount? They're already enough OP"
"Ok, but what about letting Forerunners deploy some sort of magical mines that-"
"Magical mines? They're already enough OP!"
"Um, so, maybe Forerunners were advanced enough to use a laser capable of-"
"A LASER? Dude, they can butt-rape your face with their little finger even WITHOUT a laser!"
I think that the correct answer to a theoretical question about Halos being in the game would be that they cannot be in the game because they would be a balance-breaker, and not "because Forerunners are already too OP".
But that's just my opinion.

This is just an exhausted topic. We've considered a lot of possibilities, haven't decided upon one. Sternus is right in the case of the Halos being superweapons, and it's been said that superweapons aren't necessary for SotP because they are designed to break stalemates and it's a top design priority to prevent them in the first place. The most likely candidate seems to me to be the artifact world or whatever it's called in Rebellion, such that capturing a Halo is a victory condition. But who knows? We'll decide when the time comes.

I still think a scaled down version of the halo rings "Purge devices" Would be ideal. Could try and incorporate some lore into them, calling them the prototype phase of the halo rings designed to purge a nearby planet of all life. However once they realized the rate of the flood infection was far too great they had to upscale the design for much more.... devastating effects.
